FTOPS IX Cash
Full Tilt Poker runs a regular series of Poker tournaments called the FTOPS. These are high buyin, large field, multi table tournaments. I decided to have a go at this series event number 1. This was a standard No Limit Holdem tournament with a buyin of $216. The final field size was 5,779 players. First prize was around $199,000 and given the field size it requires a lot of luck combined with skill to get there I suspect.
After a long battle I ended up 63rd for a prize of $2022.65. So close, 62 places from the big bucks. Full results here.
For the times I went all-in I managed to get my money in when I was ahead. Unfortunately two crucial hands near the end lost to people with marginal hands getting lucky, crippling my stack size and ending my run. That's poker I guess!

you must be good at it :) . You mentioned "long battle".. How long do you have to play to get where you got. I would like to get hang of poker too.
It took seven hours! These big field ones take a while :)
Oh, in case you were asking how long I've been playing. I started about 2 years ago, but really only started studying/learning/playing better since the middle of last year or so.
Good job. I have been wanting to get into those games as well. In real life, online, as well as writing a program or two.
I can't decide if I like poker though.
